Spin, a collaboration between Ricky Subritzky and Fiona MacDonald, was exhibited at the Daneyal Mahmood Gallery, New York City, from March 22 to April 21, 2007. It was displayed simultaneously in NYC with the Lobby and Fold installations. Originally presented as eight zoetropes, it is now available as an edition that includes a zoetrope and sixteen prints of all the animations.

Spin repurposes domestic lamps into zoetropes, early precursors to cinema, to animate imagery suggested by current affairs commentary. The work riffs on the mendacity of political “spin”, while mimetically satirizing mass media’s predilection for repetition and simplification.
